FaRe Musica Ensemble
The FaRe Musica Ensemble was founded 2006 for the second edition of the homonymous festival of Casalzuigno (VA). The presence of numerous local musicians inspired the community to establish a permanent music event.
Oskar Boldre, inspired by this occasion and commissioned by the commune, composes original pieces for an ensemble with 12-15 participants. The group consists of professional and amateur musicians from Valcuvia and adjacent regions. In addition to musical dialogues in various formations, the project offers space to experiment musically as a group, to facilitate an exchange between the various local music-scenes (bands, music school, youth band) and introduces unusual instruments. The compositions foresee the use of instruments from various regions of the world, such as African water drums, the hang (evolved from the Haitian steel-drum), the Australian didgeridoo, and the voice – also used as an instrument, i.e. without the use of words. The resulting language transcends limitations set by styles or spoken languages. With this rich variety of harmonics the musicians move between written and improvised music.
