Goccia di Voci

Choral songs, from spiritual to humorous

An evocative and entertaining World Music repertoire. The use of the voice as an instrument to approach choir singing in a simple and joyous way that involves soul and body.

Activity promoted by Teatro dei Fauni, Locarno (CH)

The polyphonic choir Goccia di Voci was founded 1997 in Italy and 2001 in Switzerland. The aim is to emphasize and combine sacred and playful aspects of singing, while also providing inexperienced people with a chance to sing together. The singers do not work with traditional sheet music. The learning method is based on listening and on assimilating particular rhythms through the use of the body.
Over the years, the groups have grown and the repertoire now includes songs from many different parts of the world (Africa, Haiti, Mediterranean, India, Armenia, Eastern and Northern Europe, Chile…)
Oskar Boldre’s approach to choral singing stresses a “lively” interpretation. He arranges and adapts all songs specifically for his singers, often using the voice as an instrument to create a language that goes beyond words and other boundaries.
The vibrant rhythmical energy and embracing warmth make Goccia di Voci a unique and captivating ensemble. Their performances are usually very entertaining and memorable. At the end the audience is often invited to join in the singing and improvisations, which represents another unique characteristic of this choir, offering innovative and unusual musical experiences.
