Teatro dei Fauni

The Teatro dei Fauni was born in 1986. It is directed by Santuzza Oberholzer and is made up of people coming from the world of theatre, music and puppets. The Figure Theatre is particularly suitable for representing characters from ancient myths and fairy tales, and this is the direction the experimentation has been leading towards.
The archetypical figures who populates these tales are very rich in poetry and symbols of high contemporary meaning; the elements of magic finds in Object Theatre its ideal expressive space. Much attention is given to female characters that are very often disregarded in traditional theatre production.
The Italian performances are often translated into other languages: they were represented in Austria, Canada, Tchechoslowakia, Chile, Cuba, France, Germany, Italy, Iran, Madagascar, Mexico and Turkey.
